Verify a YouTube channel

A YouTube channel needs to be verified before its videos publish to your ShowHub site. There are four ways to do it. Signing in with Google takes a few seconds; the others need no sign-in at all.

All four start from Episodes → Sources , in the Confirm it’s yours to publish it box under your channel.

The verify box under an unverified YouTube channel

Verify with Google

Click Verify with Google

It’s the first option in the verify box.

Pick the Google account that owns the channel

Google asks which account to use. Pick the one that owns the channel, not just one that can upload to it.

If your channel is a Brand Account, Google may ask a second time which channel or account to use. Pick the channel’s own name there.

Leave the YouTube box ticked

Google lists what ShowHub may see. Keep View your YouTube account ticked. ShowHub only reads your channel and videos; it can’t post, edit or delete anything.

Back in ShowHub

You land on Sources with the message Your YouTube channel is verified. Your playlists and filters stay as you set them.

If it doesn’t work

“Google sign-in was cancelled”You closed or backed out of Google’s screen.Try again, or use one of the methods below.
“Google hasn’t verified this app” warningGoogle shows this for some apps that read YouTube data.Click Continue if you want to go ahead, or use a code instead.
Signing in with the wrong account never swaps your source for another channel

Put a code in your channel description

No sign-in needed, and it works for anyone who can edit the channel, managers included.

Get a code

In the verify box, click Get a code, then Copy.

Add it to your description

Open YouTube Studio  → Customization → Basic info. Paste the code anywhere in Description and click Publish.

Check

Back in ShowHub, click Check my channel. Once it’s verified you can take the code out of your description.

Codes work once, only for this show, and expire after 3 days

YouTube can take a few minutes to show a description change. If the check says the code isn’t there yet, wait a couple of minutes and click Check my channel again.

Put your email in your channel description

ShowHub reads the email in your channel description.

  1. In YouTube Studio → Customization → Basic info → Description, add the email you signed up to ShowHub with (for example Contact: you@yourshow.com) and click Publish.
  2. In ShowHub, click check again in the verify box.

If it matches your ShowHub email, the channel is verified straight away. If it’s a different address, ShowHub sends that address an email: click Yes, this is my show in it.

Ask the ShowHub team

If none of these work for you, click Ask the ShowHub team to check at the bottom of the verify box. Add anything that ties you to the channel, like your website that links to it, and click Send to the team. We usually reply within a day. You can also write to verify@showhubco.com from the email you signed up with.
