WordPress

The ShowHub plugin puts your show on your WordPress site: an Episodes page, a page for every episode, players for any post or page, and a podcast feed. Everything stays in sync with ShowHub on its own.

Prefer not to install a plugin? You can paste the embed snippet instead. You get the player, but none of the pages, sync or tools below.

Install and connect

Download the plugin

In ShowHub, open Dashboard → Publish and click Download the WordPress plugin (showhub-wordpress.zip).

Upload it to WordPress

In wp-admin go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, choose the zip, click Install Now, then Activate.

Connect to ShowHub

Open ShowHub in the wp-admin menu and click Connect to ShowHub. Sign in (or create an account), pick the show for this site, and click Connect. You land back in WordPress, connected.

Don’t have a show yet? The connect page offers Start your show instead: name it (your site’s name is filled in) and click Create show and connect. Back in WordPress, setup asks where your episodes come from: YouTube, a podcast feed, Spotify or Apple Podcasts.

There are no keys, IDs or URLs to copy. Each show can be connected to one WordPress site at a time.

After connecting, the plugin creates your Episodes page (at /episodes/) and runs its first sync. New sites see a short setup: connect a source, check your branding, choose a theme.

What you get

Episodes page and episode pages

  • Episodes page: a normal WordPress page holding your ShowHub player. Add any text or blocks around it; the plugin never overwrites your edits. If you delete it, it stays deleted. Re-create it from ShowHub → Publish.
  • Episode pages: every published episode gets its own page at /episodes/episode-title/, with that episode’s player, its show notes and its transcript. They’re found by search engines and can be linked from menus.
  • Change the address under ShowHub → Publish → Episodes page. Episode pages move with it.

Sync

The plugin syncs with ShowHub on a schedule you choose (hourly by default), and when you click Sync now:

  • New and edited episodes appear and update.
  • Episodes you hide in ShowHub come off your site, and return when you show them again.
  • Episodes deleted in ShowHub are removed.
  • Transcripts that changed are updated.
  • Your plan is re-checked, so upgrades unlock features right away.

Episode text is managed in ShowHub; edit episodes there.

Players anywhere

Use the ShowHub Player block (Pro) or the [showhub] shortcode (all plans):

ShortcodeShows
[showhub]The full player with all episodes
[showhub section="recent" max="3"]The latest 3 episodes
[showhub episode="EPISODE_ID"]One episode (ShowHub episode ID or the WordPress episode page ID)
[showhub section="premiere"]Your next premiere
[showhub title="Listen now"]Any of the above with a heading
[showhub color_scheme="dark"]Force light or dark (auto follows the visitor)
[showhub theme="card-grid" style="compact"]A different theme and layout for this player (Pro)
[showhub_live_ticker]Upcoming premieres as a list (Pro)

Without theme, every player uses the theme you pick under ShowHub → Design, which is the same setting as Dashboard → Design in ShowHub.

Podcast feed and search engines

  • /feed/showhub/ is a podcast RSS feed of the episodes on your site, linking to your episode pages. Episodes whose media is a YouTube, Vimeo, Spotify or Apple Podcasts link are listed without an audio enclosure, since podcast apps can’t play those pages.
  • The Episodes page and episode pages include structured data (schema.org PodcastSeries / PodcastEpisode). Turn it off under Publish if an SEO plugin already adds it.

Auto-blog (Business)

Turn it on under ShowHub → Publish → Auto-blog and choose how posts arrive:

  • Follow ShowHub: published posts publish, drafts stay drafts, scheduled posts are scheduled.
  • Always drafts: everything waits for your review.
  • Publish immediately: anything ShowHub has published or scheduled goes live.

ShowHub drafts are never published. Posts you delete or trash in WordPress are not sent again.

Premium episodes with WooCommerce (Business)

With WooCommerce active, turn on Premium episodes under Publish, then mark episodes as premium under Episodes. Each premium episode is linked to a WooCommerce product (one is created at your default price if you don’t pick one). Until a visitor buys it, the episode is left out of every player, the podcast feed, search and structured data on your site, and its page shows a buy button instead of the player.

Analytics

Plays and listening from every ShowHub player on your site show up in Analytics under WordPress. To also count page views and clicks on episode pages and auto-blog posts, turn on Page analytics under ShowHub → Settings. It’s off by default and sets no cookies.

Updates

New versions of the plugin show up in WordPress like any other plugin update: on Plugins and under Dashboard → Updates, with a changelog under View details. Click Update now, or turn on Enable auto-updates for ShowHub on the Plugins screen. Your settings, connection and pages are kept.

Running 1.0.0? Download the plugin again from Dashboard → Publish and upload it once (WordPress offers to replace the installed version). From 1.0.1 on, updates arrive in wp-admin.

Disconnect or move to another site

  • ShowHub → Settings → Disconnect removes this site’s access and frees the show to connect elsewhere.
  • In ShowHub, Dashboard → Settings → Connected sites lists every connected site; Disconnect there cuts a site off remotely. The plugin then asks to reconnect.
  • Deleting the plugin from WordPress also disconnects it and removes the episode pages. The Episodes page goes to the trash, and blog posts it created stay.

Troubleshooting

  • “Reconnect ShowHub” banner: the site was disconnected from ShowHub, or the site moved and its stored key can’t be read. Click Connect to ShowHub again.
  • Episode pages show “Page not found”: go to Settings → Permalinks in wp-admin and click Save once.
  • The player doesn’t appear: clear any caching plugin, and allow showhubco.com scripts in security plugins.
  • A feature shows a lock: it’s part of a higher plan. Upgrade in ShowHub; the plugin picks it up on the next sync, or click Sync now.
