Referrals
Refer other creators to ShowHub and earn free plan time or a tier upgrade. Open Referrals from the account menu in the top-right of the dashboard.
How it works
- Share your link — every account gets a personal referral link (
showhubco.com/r/your-code). Send it to a creator friend. When they click it, a 30-day cookie remembers who sent them. - They sign up and set up — the person you referred creates an account and goes through normal onboarding: connecting a source, syncing content, etc.
- They qualify — once your referral meets all the verification checks (see below), they count toward your points.
- Earn a reward — collect 4 points and choose your reward. Keep referring and each additional 4 points adds another year.
Points per referral
The plan your referral is on decides how many points they’re worth. If they upgrade later, the points update automatically.

What qualifies a referral
A referral counts only when the person you invited can be confirmed as a real creator with a real show. This prevents throwaway signups from gaming the program. All four of these must be true:

| Verified email | Their identity provider confirmed the email address. |
| Source ownership verified | They proved they control a source through OAuth sign-in, a feed-email challenge, or a token challenge. A pasted link doesn’t count. |
| Content synced | At least one episode has been imported from that source. |
| Unique source | The same source (YouTube channel, podcast feed, etc.) isn’t verified under any other ShowHub account. |

Rewards
Once you reach 4 points, a reward is unlocked. What you can choose depends on your current plan:

How free-year refunds work
When you choose the “free year” option, ShowHub watches for your plan charges as they happen:
- Unsettled charges are voided before they post to your card.
- Already-settled charges are refunded within a few days.
- Each reward covers up to 12 monthly charges (or one annual charge). The Referrals page shows how many months remain on each reward.
Your referral link
Every account is auto-assigned a code when you first open the Referrals page. Your link looks like:

You can change your code to something people will recognize — your show name, handle, or nickname. Codes must be:
- 3–24 characters long
- Lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens only
- No leading, trailing, or consecutive hyphens
Claiming window
A referral can only be claimed within 30 days of the referee creating their account. If someone signs up without your link and tries to add a code later than 30 days after signup, it won’t work.
Self-referral protection
You can’t refer yourself. ShowHub checks:
- The referrer and referee can’t be the same account.
- Email aliases (e.g.
name+tag@gmail.com, dot variations on Gmail) are normalized to detect the same person.

FAQ
Do points go away if a referral downgrades? Points adjust automatically. If someone drops from Pro to Starter, they’re worth 0.25 instead of 1. If they upgrade, the points go up. Already-granted rewards are never revoked.
Can I earn rewards on Enterprise? Enterprise plans are sold individually, so there’s no automatic reward for Enterprise accounts. Business-tier referrals still earn 2 points each though.
What if my referral disconnects their source after qualifying? Once qualified, a referral stays qualified. Later disconnecting a source doesn’t un-earn the referral.
