Getting StartedMove from Podpage

Move from Podpage

Bring a Podpage site to Show Hub without losing your episodes, your domain or the links people already have. Plan on a few minutes in Show Hub, plus the time your DNS change takes to spread (usually a few hours).

What moves and what doesn’t

Moves to Show HubNotes
EpisodesYes, all of themRead from the same RSS feed Podpage uses. Your audio stays with your podcast host.
Episode linksYesOld Podpage addresses redirect to the new episode pages (see Match your old episode links).
Your domainYes, on ProBare domain (yourshow.com) or subdomain (listen.yourshow.com).
TranscriptsWhen your feed has themPro shows transcripts on episode pages; Business transcribes every episode.
Email subscribers, voicemails, reviewsNoShow Hub has no email signup form, voicemail or on-site reviews. Move your subscriber list out of Podpage (its Zapier connection can send subscribers to another app) before you cancel.
Blog posts and custom pagesNoCopy anything you want to keep before the Podpage plan ends.

The steps

Bring in your show

Start at showhubco.com/onboarding?from=podpage  and paste your Podpage site’s address when it asks for your show: yourshow.com, or podpage.com/yourshow if you never connected a domain.

Podpage doesn’t host audio. Its /feed/ address forwards to the RSS feed on your podcast host, and Show Hub follows that and saves the host’s feed, so syncing keeps working after the domain moves. You can also paste the feed link from your host directly; see RSS.

Every episode gets its own page at yourshow.showhubco.com straight away.

Do this before you change DNS, while the Podpage site is still online.

Go to Dashboard → Publish → Links to your old site, type your Podpage address and press Match my episodes. Show Hub reads the list of pages in your Podpage sitemap (yourshow.com/sitemap.xml) and matches each old episode address to its Show Hub page:

  • An episode whose address is the same on both, like /the-cold-open/, needs nothing.
  • An episode whose address differs, like /496-ffmpeg/ becoming /496-ffmpeg-the-swiss-army-knife-of-video, gets a permanent (308) redirect. Search engines treat it as the page having moved and carry its ranking over.
  • Podpage’s own pages (/episodes/, /about/, /contact/, /reviews/, /follow/) go to your Show Hub home page.
  • Addresses with no clear match are listed so you can check them. Two near-identical titles (say “Mailbag 12” and “Mailbag 13”) are left for you rather than guessed.

Running it again replaces the earlier results, so it’s safe to repeat after your episodes finish importing.

Move the domain

Custom domains need the Pro plan. In Dashboard → Publish → Domain & hosting, type your domain. Show Hub notices that it still points at Podpage and says so.

Podpage asked you for these records:

TypeHostPodpage value
A@54.90.47.105
CNAMEwwwdomains.podpage.com
CNAMEyour subdomain, if you used onedomains.podpage.com

Replace them with the values Show Hub shows you. Show Hub can make the change itself at providers that support one-click setup or an API token; otherwise follow the DNS setup and provider guides. Delete any AAAA records on the same host, as Podpage also asked.

Show Hub checks the records, sets up HTTPS and emails you when the site is live on your domain. Your showhubco.com address keeps working the whole time.

After the move

  • Episode pages now give your own domain as their canonical address, so search engines credit yourshow.com, not showhubco.com.
  • Turn on Google Search Console when you connect the domain; Show Hub submits the new sitemap.
  • Your old links redirect for as long as the redirects exist. Remove all in the panel deletes them; matching again brings them back.
  • Cancel Podpage once your site loads on your domain and the old episode links land on the right pages.

Troubleshooting

  • “lists no pages” or a 404 when matching links: the Podpage sitemap is gone, usually because the domain already moved or the Podpage plan ended. Use the paste option instead.
  • Show Hub found the wrong show or no feed: paste the RSS feed link from your podcast host (Buzzsprout, Libsyn, Transistor and so on) instead of the Podpage address.
  • An old link shows “page not found”: it was on the unmatched list, usually because the episode is no longer in your feed or two episodes had near-identical titles. There’s no manual picker yet; email support@showhubco.com with the old address and the episode it should open, and we’ll add the redirect.
