WordPress blocks and page builders

Every embed your ShowHub site theme draws is a WordPress block, and an element in Elementor, Divi, Beaver Builder, Bricks and WPBakery. They are drawn in the site theme active in ShowHub. Switch themes there and every ShowHub block and element on your WordPress site restyles itself. You don’t edit a single post.

This page covers the theme embeds. The classic ShowHub Player block and [showhub] shortcode are in the WordPress guide.

The builder elements need the plugin connected to ShowHub. If your builder isn’t active, the plugin loads nothing for it.

The embeds

Your site theme’s tier decides which embeds it draws:

  • Every theme: All episodes, Recent 3 Episodes, Premiere Countdown, Sticky Player, Episode Spotlight.
  • Pro and lab themes, and up: Follow Strip, Playlist Player.
  • Business+ themes: Search & Browse, Guest Roster, Quote Cards.

How blocks follow your theme

Pick a site theme in ShowHub

Open Pages → Theme studio in the ShowHub dashboard and activate a theme. Your plan has to include it.

Add ShowHub blocks or elements

In WordPress, the inserter’s ShowHub category is named after the active theme, for example ShowHub · Margin theme. It lists only the embeds that theme draws.

Switch themes whenever you like

Every ShowHub block and element on the site redraws in the new theme on the next page load. The plugin checks your theme when the block editor opens, on every scheduled sync, and when you click Check again in a block’s Site theme panel.

If you switch to a theme that doesn’t include an embed you’ve already placed, for example Guest Roster after moving from a Business+ theme to a Pro one, visitors see nothing in that spot. Editors see a note naming the tiers that include it. Switch back, or upgrade the theme, and the embed returns as it was.

With no site theme active, the five embeds every theme has still play in your basic look from Design → Embed style. The theme-only embeds wait for a theme.

Settings

Each block and element starts with every setting on Saved in ShowHub. It uses what you set for that embed in the Theme studio. Change a setting in the block’s sidebar (or the builder’s panel) to override it for that one spot only. Clear it to go back to the ShowHub setting.

Options marked with a theme tier, such as Compact list (Pro themes and up), only take effect when your theme is at that tier or higher. Otherwise the embed uses its default.

The [showhub_embed] shortcode

Use it in any editor or builder that runs shortcodes:

[showhub_embed embed="guests" heading="On the show" cols="4" title="Our guests"]
  • embed: which embed (the ID next to each name below). Defaults to list, all episodes.
  • title: an optional heading above the embed.
  • Any setting below, by its attribute name. Settings you leave out use what’s saved in ShowHub.

The shortcode works on every plan. The embeds themselves follow your site theme’s tier, as above.

Troubleshooting

  • A ShowHub block shows “isn’t part of theme”: the active site theme doesn’t draw that embed. Switch to a theme at the tier shown, or replace the block.
  • The inserter still shows the old theme: open a ShowHub block’s Site theme panel and click Check again, or reload the editor.
  • An Elementor, Divi, Beaver, Bricks or WPBakery element is missing: these are part of the Business plan. After upgrading, click Sync now under ShowHub in wp-admin.
  • Nothing appears on the live page: clear any caching plugin and allow showhubco.com scripts in security plugins.
